Our Story

The name, “Open Door Church,” was inspired by the words of Jesus to a first century church when He said, “Behold, I have put before you an open door which no one can shut, because you have a little power, and have kept My word, and have not denied My name” (Revelation 3:8).  We are committed to faithful proclamation of the Bible, never substituting the standards of our society for God’s truths, but always sharing those truths compassionately with understanding that all of us have fallen short of the example we see in Christ.  We desire that our name serve as a testimony that the doors of our church and our hearts are open to all who are looking for a place to learn more about God’s will for their lives.

In John 10:9, Jesus stated, “I am the door, if anyone enters through Me, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.”    The mission of Open Door Church is to introduce people to our Lord Jesus Christ in order that they may know the joy of an eternal relationship with Him and experience the peace that only He can give them.   We emphasize praise to God and the proclamation of His Word in our worship celebrations.  We seek to love God with our whole heart, soul, mind, and strength and to love others as ourselves.

Our church campus is located on a beautiful 30 acre tract whose entrance is located at 87 Summer Street in Lee, only 2/10 of a mile from Route 20, the main street through Lee.  We have converted a former gymnasium into a multi-purpose worship center and a former 2 story dormitory into a caretaker’s home.  Future renovations will be made to three other buildings including the 13,000 square foot Smith Mansion .  We are excited to see the many ways in which God will use this property for His glory.
